Grad Night: Celebrate With Chocolate Pizza

By Elba Fenwick

As the strains of Pomp and Circumstance begin to fade and the caps have been tossed in the air, most seniors have just one thing on their mind - the after party. As parents, creating the perfect graduation party for your teen can be a great way to show them how proud you are of all of their accomplishments.

Sometimes it's best to begin with dessert, after all it's the highlight of any type of party. A fun twist on the typical graduation cake would be replacing this item with Chocolate Pizza. At Chocolate Pizza Company, there are plenty of great options, but the best one for a graduation party is the Chocolate Pizza that looks just like a graduation cap. This unique Chocolate Pizza even has a handmade candy and chocolate tassel and can feature the graduation year on top.

While the graduation-style Chocolate Pizza weighs more than a pound, if you are having a large event, it might be prudent to order an additional unique Chocolate Pizza for your guests to enjoy. There are many different specialty pizzas to consider, and you also can order a custom Chocolate Pizza that says "Congratulations" or "Class of 2015," or another special message. You also can add toppings such as M&Ms or a blend of nuts.

While some guests probably would be content to eat Chocolate Pizza throughout the evening, you will need to serve plenty of savory dinner foods as well. At these types of parties, it is fun for guests and the host to be able to mix and mingle, so serving a buffet just makes sense. Fill it with any type of foods, you can even have a potluck or perhaps serve the favorite foods of each graduate attending the party. It also can be easy to stick with one specific culinary genre, such as Italian or Mexican. You also could simply serve finger foods such as mini sandwiches and appetizers and some pasta salads.

The decorations are particularly important at the graduation party and you can choose silver, gold and black or stick with the colors that represent the school of your graduate. This can be a lot of fun and easy, as you just cover the tables with cloths in your school colors and use balloons or flowers that feature the school colors as extra decorations. Even the plates, forks, spoons and napkins can feature school colors. You also could have a company create customized napkins that say something like "Congratulations Hannah - Class of 2015."

In addition to decorating the rest of the home in school colors and perhaps a gigantic set of balloons proclaiming the graduation year, add some decorations that will spark memories of the school experience as well as your child's long journey to this occasion. Blow up huge pictures with your child and his or her friends and place them around the house. Have a guest book and encourage guests to write down a favorite memory or perhaps a word of advice. If you are inviting many classmates, set up a board with baby pictures and have the guests guess the identity of each baby. Guests can write their guesses down as they munch on Chocolate Pizza and other items from the buffet.
