Different Levels Of The Residential Electrical Contractors

By Arthur Butler

Electrical contractors are those business people or business firm that perform any specialized work in relation to the installation, design, and maintenance of a certain electrical system. They are different from electricians. Electricians are individuals and contractors are companies that employ a certain individual or electrician. Both of them are licensed and are insured for a safe and proper business operation. They protect the employees and as well the home or business owner from any insurance liabilities. But these kind of requirements may vary from different states.

Contractors are categorized into three major types based on the work they perform. Residential electrical contractors Plattsmouth may either be a line or outside, inside, or integrated building system contractor. An outside or a line contractor is responsible for the power transmissions in high voltages and as well for distribution lines. They also build and maintain infrastructures that are required to deliver electricity which is being generated by the power plants through series of lines in high voltages and substations.

The inside contractor will provide electricity towards any structure within the boundary line of properties. It includes the substations and the outdoor lighting. They have current specifications under construction guidelines. And this allow them to serve as prime contractors in all electrical and cabling maintenance, design, and installation.

The contractor for integrated building system works for the installation of low voltages like climate controls, energy efficient lighting, fiber optics, security systems, back up powers, wireless networks, and telecommunications. They contain specialized skills in system controls integration. They also work for maximum energy efficiently and building performance.

Contractors are going to employ workers and will be classifying them according to their work capacity, basing on their training or experience level. The four levels are the apprentice, journeyman, estimator, and project supervisor. An apprentice will receive an on the job training and also a classroom instruction. The one who conducts it is a licensed journeyman or a master electrician. They teach the apprentice on the installation, modification, repairing, and the maintenance of lighting and power systems. The program often last for 3 up to 5 years and they earn wages from their trainings.

The journeyman modifies, maintains, installs, and repairs power and lighting systems. They terminate cables, install the control wiring of the drawings, and read blueprints. They made completion on the apprentice programs and now holds a license. They supervise the apprentices.

An estimator will calculate the duration of the project and as well as the cost. This includes the materials, labor, and overhead. The estimate is submitted as project bid and it serves as budget and scheduling guidelines during the project making.

A project supervisor is the one who oversees all the work forces. They are the ones who will encourage employees for a safe and a high quality work. They monitor the progress in order to meet the deadlines and also submit all needed forms and reports.

One last important requirement for the contractors to have in almost all countries is following National Electrical Code. This must be done to ensure systems work in safe manner. It is a model code that is adopted for the installation of electrical system for keeping people safe when they deal with electricity hazards.
