How To Get Through With Mold Removal

By Linda Carter

Molds are formed from the fungus that grows literally anywhere from spores that float in the air. When conditions are right, mold forms and it can be seen as darkened lines and spots under carpets, windows, kitchen cabinets, tile grout, ceiling, wood and wall siding. Because the spores are dangerous to human health, it is imperative that proper precautions are taken during mold removal process to prevent health hazards.

Spores that develops into mold floats in the air and when all the conditions are viable, the spores mature into a serious infestation. These conditions include air, dark areas like under carpets, moist surfaces, warmth and quiet environment free from disturbance. Such places include the kitchens, basements, ceiling, bathrooms walls and a host of many surfaces around homes.

If you have mold problems in your home and you want to get rid of it, start by purchasing the necessary supplies. If the situation is minor, be sure to use home remedies but for the stubborn ones, visit a home depot stores and purchase a fungicide spray, scouring pad, gloves, eyewear, face mask and some paint. You want to put your safety first since spores are dangerous to your health.

From your list of safety equipment, you may want to put on these items before actual process kicks off. The spores are pretty tiny and dangerous and they can cause an allergic reaction like sneezing, running snores or even respiratory problems. So, put on the safety eyewear to shield your eyes, a face mask for your nose and mouth as well as gloves to protect your hands from coming into contact with the spores.

To start the process, you want to identify and locate the infested area and spray it with the fungicide until the mold is covered in the spray then wait for it to dry off. Immediately blast some air using a fan or just open windows to allow quick drying. Air is important in the whole process of killing the spores and it actually accelerates the drying process.

Using the scouring material, ensure that any remaining stains are removed from the infested surface. To get maximum action, be sure to hold the scrub and apply pressure in a circular motion so that the stains get action from all directions. Take your paper towels and wipe the excess fungicide spray then dispose of the material properly.

Apply a second round of spray coat throughout the scrubbed surface. This is actually important since there may be some remaining molds which never got any action from the fungicide. Wait for the surface to dry off then scrub off the infested area, wipe off excess spray and at this time, you can use a vacuum cleaner to remove any left over particles.

Knowing how to prevent the formation of mold is actually important in preventing its formation. For one, be sure to apply t the mold free areas and keep such surfaces dry by repairing leaking conduits and roofing as well as vacuuming your carpets frequently. Be sure to paint surfaces that you have previously had remediation done and you should be free from future infestation.
