Synthetic turf has gained a lot of popularity over the last few years. This product is being used in a number of industries and situations to provide a quick alternative to natural grass. The process of synthetic turf production starts with mixing green plastic pellets with white ones. White pellets form the backing of the end product, while color is added by the green pellets. Later, different colored strands are woven together on spools to create several synthetic yarns.

Guides help in maintaining the shape of yarns to stop them from slackening as they move. The yarn is taken into a tufting equipment to be hooked through sheeting. In the process of tufting, these yarns get cut to make them appear like grass blades. Cutting is normally done by use of small knives which are placed beneath the sheeting.

Once the tufting has been completed, the sheeting is moved to a coating roller to be applied with adhesive. The adhesive is applied on the backing of the turf. The adhesive is dried using both open air as well as inside an enclosed setting. Hot pins are then used to burn holes into the finished product as it exits the drying oven. The holes are used for drainage.

The final product gets subjected to various inspection processes. The inspection is done to make sure that the grass meets the specific application it is meant for or the industrial standards in existence. Part of that inspection confirms minor trimming and the length of turf fiber. A device which stimulates football cleats is used in confirming the longevity of the turf.
